Are you looking for a VBA solution?
How do you want to use this? (what steps do you want to take to run it?)

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ URGENT -Need an Expert to help !

Hi Friends,

I have a problem which needs to be solved with excel (if not possible pls let
me
know in which other way it's possible)

Problem:

Here is the logic:

There is a production line to make iron rods.  It is a long steel form into
which steel get placed.  Number of pieces per job can be up to 2000-3000
maximum
but usually less than 500.

The length of this production line is 288’.  Each day (cycle) you have this
length of production line to use.

The pieces are of varying length (see attached spreadsheet).

Between each piece, there is a 1’ spacer.  So, for example, if you had two rods
that were 144’ long, you could not produce them on the line in the same day
because of the 1’ spacer between them.  With two rods your maximum useable
length (meaning the actual number of ft of rod you can make) becomes 287’.  If
you produce 3 rodss in one cycle, your useable length becomes 286’.  If you
produce 5 beams in one cycle, your usable length becomes 284’ and so on.  Each
additional beam after the first one reduces the useable length by 1’.
We need to solve for the minimum number of cycles needed to produce all the
pieces (in this case 105 pieces totaling 10559.75 ft in combined length).  This
solution need to also tell me what to produce on the line each day...

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Mathan
