Gerrit, Many of us have here have similar (and varied) backgrounds. Personally, mine was in Fortran IV, Cobol, C, C++ and UNIX scripting. I'm currently maintaining close to 100,000 lines of VBA code in multiple applications. I think one of the biggest benefits of VBA is in the editor/debugger. Being able to pause the program and step through while watching the values of variables (and change the value on-the-fly) is extremely effective!
