I have what I hope is a very simple question about why my new function is
not working. I rarely create UDF so I suspect that I have done something
wrong in the setup. I am using Excel 2013 on a PC.

I have a spreadsheet Row A:1-9 has values for weighting results (1-10)
Row B:1-9 has the values to be weighted

I started the Visual Basic editor, created a Module (Module1) then entered
code like this:
Function WgtAvg(ByVal wgt as range, val as range) as variant
----- code to do the calculations --------
   Function End
I then save the VBA

In my spreadsheet I but =WgtAvg(A1:A9, B1:B9) this returns a #VALUE error
(a value used in the formula is of the wrong type)

If I go back to my function code and try to debug it, when I start the run
I get ask for a macro name.

The sheet is saved as .xlsm.

Thank you very much for helping me find out what simple thing I am doing
wrong.

Greg

Are you =EXP(E:RT) or =NOT(EXP(E:RT)) in Excel? And do you wanna be? It’s
