I was under the impression that only the sending mail server actually knows
the BCC information.  It uses that address pool to contact the various MXs
for the receiving domains, and only does a RCPT TO for the addresses headed
to that mail server.  The BCC header is not transmitted to the receiving
mail server at SMTP time.

Am I wrong in thinking this?
