That is exactly what I had to do for a client last week. They installed NAV some time prior. I then tweaked their av to not check the m drive nor the working dirs. They said it worked fine yesterday and now it won't work. Said they rebooted and even tried to manually start the service but no worky. I went there and read the error plain as day " Cannot find log file ..." Well then right before that error was one from Norton saying that it had quarentined that log file. Silly transaction logs and norton don't get along well. That is why it is recommended to not scan exchange dirs.
