Indeed. Oddly, that hasn't been my experience at all. I have restored servers that have neither replicas nor are the home servers of a pf in question, but after DS/IS adjuster has been run, I am able to at least see the instance in the Public Folder properties. Not that there is info within the folder mind you, but the instance has always shown up. But, nevertheless, if you had no replicas on the restored server, there will be no data. Good luck!

After checking some of the other folders I couldn't get back with this restore, they all have one of our overseas servers as the home server. Checking with those guys now. Thanks for the lead! -----Original Message----- From: Chris Scharff [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2004 7:36 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Restoring a public folder Did an instance of the PF in question exist in this particular public folder store or was it perhaps homed on another server in the org? -----Original Message----- From: Sean Brandt [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Posted At: Saturday, February 07, 2004 10:19 AM Posted To: swynk Conversation: Restoring a public folder Subject: Restoring a public folder Hi All, Here's the skinny: Running Exch 5.5 SP4 on NT4 SP6. A public folder was deleted, at the time there was no deleted items retention time so I've gone to backup. On a non-production server I redirected the restore of the information store (Backup Exec 8.6) and ran isinteg -patch to get the IS started. The server has the same organization and site names as my production server. The only difference is the name of the server. In Exchange I can see all public folders under Organization>Folders>Public Folders, but can't access the properties of any of them. When I go to the properties page of the Public Information Store in my site, and select the Instances tab I see nearly all of my public folders. I've moved them all over to "folders on this IS" and they are restored and happy. The problem is, a handfull of folders including the folder I need are not listed in the Instances of public folders. The error I get when I try to access the folder is "object not found in directory. This may be because replication has not completed". I ran the DS/IS consistency adjuster to see if that changed anything but it didn't. The pub.edb file reads "consistant" when I ruan eseutil /mh against it. So, what would cause the public folder to show up in the Organization>Folders>Public Folders tree but nowhere else? Why wouldn't it show up in Instances? And lastly are there any other tools I can use to access the folder? Thanks in advance.
