Found out that if you install the ESM on a GFI Mail Essentials box it
jacks with GFI... Apparently GFI wants the default SMTP virtual server
to exist SAN some modification done by the ESM install. Not sure fo the
particulars and likely not an issue on your workstation, but thought I'd
throw that out there.

You don't "have" to, but portions of it will not work correctly unless
you do.  That is my understanding.  There certainly isn't any harm in
installing SMTP on your workstation.

am i reading this right? you need to have smtp on the workstation just
to install the 2003 admin tools?
