No there's not! It really upsets me that that was a feature we lost
going to Exchange 2000 from 5.5. We used to have a really nice email
retention policy set up for students based on unread messages older than
a certain # of days, but we had to let the whole policy fall by the
way-side when we got the "improved" version of EX2K's mailbox manager.

I don't normally rag on Exchange as I'm a huge fan, and have been since
BETA 4, but this loss of functionality has always bugged me.

Subject: Mailbox Manager to clean Unread messages

I finally have approval to clear out old junk in our message stores. My
only stipulation is that we want different retention policies for read
email vs. unread email in the inbox. Is it possible to use Mailbox
Manager to differentiate between the two or will I need a third-party
app?
