Looking for a place to begin researching some e-mail forwarding. What we do is send out alerts to places when their systems go down. we do this with software that dial to our RAS server then relay the e-mails thru our exchange server. These alerts have addresses that are both internal and external to our organization. We have started using the internet at some sites but I have had to add some domains into a table that can always be routed even if the system sending the alert is on a foreign network. What we want to do is get rid of relaying thru our mail server for alerts, for obvious reasons and start sending to a single address and that one e-mail will start a chain of events, database lookups etc that will decide who needs to get what alert based on info in the subject line etc. Is there some software or other solution I can look to or does this sound like something that will be built completely from scratch? Thanks.
