There is a bug in ScanMail for Exchange that I discovered a few months ago
and Trend has a hotfix for it. The bug manifests itself when you turn on
virus scanning of outbound SMTP messages. Simply turning off the outbound
SMTP scanning does not help the messages that already got stuck, the bug
does something to them that they remain stuck. New messages however will
start flowing OK. The only way I found to push out the stuck messages is to
open them with notepad as text files, fix up the first few lines (they are
crap - delete them), make sure that you have normal looking headers, From:,
To:, Subject. Then save those files and move them to the Pickup directory -
they will get re-processed and sent. Of course doing this will strip any
Bcc-ed recipients.

Yes we have scanmail, but I turned it off and the problem remained. Have you
seen this happen with scanmail before?

The problem did seem to go away for a while but now I have more messages
stuck in the queue....
