If you delete the IMS, it should work! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of subsoniq Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 6:08 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: SMTP mail routing in a mixed 5.5/e2k site/admin group
Way back when e2k first came out I spent time in a lab preparing for the 5.5 -> e2k migration for the company I was working for at at the time, and one of the things I remember from that test lab is that I couldn't put an e2k SMTP connector up because 5.5 had problems sending or recieving SMTP mail, I had to rely on the 5.5 IMC for inbound and outbound SMTP mail flow. Am I remembering things correctly or should I seek treatment for dementia? The company I'm at now is in the middle of a long, drawn out 5.5 -> e2k migration and one of the sites we have is a major hub for incoming/outgoing SMTP mail, and since it's got both 5.5 and e2k servers we rely on a 5.5 IMC for this. I don't have a test lab here so I can't test this out properly, does anyone know if I can remove the IMC and setup an e2k SMTP connector and not have problems (assuming I set everythign up right)? Inbound & outbound SMTP mail goes through a layer of sendmail smarthosts so exchange doesn't have any connections from outside, inbound or outbound. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
