Thanks Andrey, you're perfectly right. "Conversations" instead of "Notes" was just my poor translation (I am running the Italian version of Exchange 2K3). And probably that's the reason why I was unable to find any help on Google and MS support.
Guess I now need to chase PSS for Q817809 hotfix and then do the registry tweak.
