As long as Exchange is not running on the domain controller, I think you can
go for it, but check out:

Subject: Upgrading 2000 Domain Controller to 2003

Hello All,

Presently, I have an Exchange 2003 Server, in a Windows 2000 Domain
environment.

I would now like to upgrade my Primary Domain Controller, to Windows
2003 - and I want to make sure, that I don't have to worry about any
"gotcha's" before embarking on this upgrade.

In the past, when upgrading Exchange 2000 Server to 2003, I had to prepare
the entire domain for the new Active Directory format (which was an integral
step, during the 2003 upgrade process) - so the Windows 2000 Domain
Controller, could handle the new format.

Can I simply upgrade my 2000 Domain Controller server, to 2003 without any
problems?

I need to make sure, before I jump in with both feet.

Thanks in advance for any information offered,

Mike
