Are there any connectors installed on the server?
If you set up a brand new Profile to test does the same thing happen?
Are you seeing the same results across the entire Org, or is this only
happening on a few and if so, what is different?
Are those without Blackberry or any synching software having issues?
Did someone add a bunch of contacts to the AD? Will this work with users
that are not contacts?

Subject: Outlook clients using POP3 and Exchange

I have a client who has had their email setup configured the way I'll
describe below long before I was hired and they do not want to change it
so I'm hoping someone can offer a suggestion other than "change their
setup". Thank you in advance.

The users all use either Outlook 2000 or XP and have an Exchange server
account for internal email only (this server is not internet
accessible). They also have individual POP3 accounts configured for
internet email and the POP3 accounts simply dump all incoming emails
into the Exchange box for storage instead of using a pst file. The
users have had this setup for years without issue until last week when
they all started trying to route outbound internet email through the
Exchange server which always ends up failing after sitting in the
Exchange SMTP Virtual Server queues until they time-out. I checked the
server and there are no SMTP connectors setup and I rechecked all the
Outlook profiles and the POP3 accounts are all set as default or are
located at the top of the routing list (depending upon the version) but
outbound emails still end up wanting to go through Exchange. There is
also one user who uses the Blackberry desktop redirector and all of
those
redirector attempts also end up in the Exchange server queues.

Once again, I'm thankful for any ideas anyone can offer.
