On the renewal page you have the option to submit a new key or use the previous one. Always re-generate the key when you renew. Give Verisign a call and they may allow you to do it again.

Ive never renewed a cert like that in my life and I have a bunch of them. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jason Clishe Sent: Monday, January 03, 2005 6:24 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: How to install renewed certificate? Verisign sent me an email indicating the cert would be expiring soon, with a link to renew. I clicked the link and was brought to a page that allowed me to view the details of my current cert. Upon confirming the details are/were still correct, I was brought to the check-out page where I chose the cert duration, and bought it. Shortly thereafter, they emailed the cert to me. Which leaves me where I am now....WTF do I do with the damn thing? You would typically generate the request then use it to create a new cert at Verisign or wherever you want (Tip: screw Verisign. They are way overpriced). Then you would get the new cert and install it. I'm curious how you even got a new cert if you didn't do a request. Did you use the original or something? Unfortunately I think you are going to have to call Verisign and start the process over again. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Clishe, Jason Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2005 5:38 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: How to install renewed certificate? I have an SSL cert from Verisign on my Exchange server for OWA. I recently received a renewal notice from Verisign, because the cert will be expiring soon. I went ahead and renewed through Verisign's online renewal tool, and Verisign sent me the new cert. Now...how the heck do I install this thing? It's Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003. IIS wants me to generate a certificate renewal request first, but I don't need to do that because I already have the cert. I tried it anyway though...went ahead created the request, then went back and tried to import the cert that I already have into the pending certificate request wizard, but it doesn't work; says the cert I have doesn't match up to the request. So I guess ultimate question here is, how do I install a certificate in IIS, if I didn't go through IIS's certificate request first?
