But the old mailbox is already deleted! I still don't understand why even when the mailbox object is "deleted", it still shows up in GAL?!! Can you explain the reason? Was it like a soft delete or something?

Then enter the distinguished name of the old mailbox. It will look something like /o=Org/ou=Site/cn=Recipients/cn=mailbox_directory_name. As for 2003, I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. It has taken the management 3 years to agree to move from NT/EX55 to 2000/EX2K! There's no option to add X500 address for the Custom Recipient object. Also how come this does work for the other moved user and not this user? They both have same identical settings: email addresses, etc. But even I find a way to do this, will/when the old mailbox object disappears from GAL? What the search string to Google this? Or better yet, why if the migration is just beginning and must cross orgs are you not using Exchange 2003 SP1 which supports such moves so much better? Yes, you'll need to add an x500 address which matches the Exchange DN of the original mailbox in order not to break replies. There should be numerous examples on Google. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > Alex Alborzfard Posted At: Friday, February 04, 2005 11:56 AM Posted > To: swynk > Conversation: Strange Migration problem > Subject: RE: Strange Migration problem > > > Before moving them, I pump out their mailbox to a PST file and then > add it to their new OL profile. > Users with OL 2000-SP1 don't have the problem: seeing the old mailbox > object. > Because EX55 box hosts one domain and EX2K box hosts another domain, I > have created a Custom Recipient (with both domains SMTP addresses) on > EX55 with an X400 address, so users still on EX55 can send to users on > EX2K from GAL. > > Another strange thing is, that so far I have moved 2 users, but I > didn't have the same problem with the first user.
