Greetings, I am working on a project to reinstall SBS2003 to resolve permissions problems and other misconfiguration problems with a previous SBS2003 installation. I am facing 2 issues: moving existing mail, etc. and creating a sharepoint to allow private user folders others cannot access (Except the administrator)
What I am doing is reinstalling SBS2003 on a 2nd Hard Drive on the same hardware. To do this, I disconnect the original drive with the problem installation, connect the new drive with the new installation to do my work. My main concern is: now I am at the point where I need to migrate the Exchange IMAP accounts for email, calendars, and so forth [were not using POP3]. Should I recreate the user accounts and passwords on the new system, or is there a way to migrate it all over to synchronize with the new system? Or do I need to export each users mail storage database and then import into the new user accounts I have created? The second concern is for the private user folders. Within the sharepoint Users, each user is to have a private folder only that user and the administrator have access to. Of course, all other users will be able to see all folders within Users, but will not be able to read from or write to the individual users folder. I know it seems very simple, but I have experimented with various security settings and have not been able to get it to work consistently from user to user. The old installation had problems with some users being able to access other users folders, even though they were not part of any group that had rights to access the folder. I appreciate anyones input and assistance. I think it is obvious I am new at all of this.
