1) Exchange 5.5, Windows 2000 2) Don't know. I didn't do it. I think my boss ran eseutil with the "detect and repair" options. 2B) No... Unfortunately, we don't back up our Exchange server. It would make things much easier, but we don't really have the hardware to back up 30+ gigs of drivespace. 3) First error message is "Can't open this item" and the second one (when you try to delete the "bad" message) says "the item could not be deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied."
4) Could very well be corrupted logs. Another thing...
