1) Exchange 5.5, Windows 2000
2) Don't know. I didn't do it. I think my boss ran eseutil with the "detect
and repair" options.
2B) No... Unfortunately, we don't back up our Exchange server. It would make
things much easier, but we don't really have the hardware to back up 30+
gigs of drivespace.
3) First error message is "Can't open this item" and the second one (when
you try to delete the "bad" message) says "the item could not be deleted. It
was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied."

4) Could very well be corrupted logs.

Another thing... I logged into the mailbox of one of the users (via OWA)
complaining and his "inbox" view states "Unable to render this view"

1. What version of Exchange, running on what OS?

2. Which eseutil options did you run? (and do you not have a good backup
that you could restore from instead?)

3. How do you know it's corrupted messages causing the problems?

4. What are the symptoms telling you it's a corrupted message, and what type
of message (dirsync, stuck in MTA queue, SMTP stops, etc.)? Is it actually
corrupted messages, or corrupted logs?

Depending on your version and symptoms, someone should be able to point you
in the right direction.
