Is your MX record pointed to the correct host? Does this excerpt from
NSLOOKUP help?

iceomatic.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = ice.iceomatic.com
ice.iceomatic.com internet address = 208.247.87.138

Ice wouldn't happen to be your Exchange 5.5 server, would it? It has a
different address than beast.

Name: beast.iceomatic.com
Address: 208.247.87.140

Subject: RE: Removing the first Exchange server.

Ed I have the dns pointing to the new server beast.iceomatic.com
(208.247.87.140), I also don't have a separate spam server it runs on the
mail server.

The out going mail is going through the new mail server but when I get
incoming mail it shows a queue for remote delivery to beast(the new mail
server) on the old server ice.

I do have a SMTP connector configured for the new server.

I am not sure what to do I have followed the steps on KB 307917 and checked
them and rechecked them to verify the steps I followed are correct.

Do I need to do a restart on the servers to make the chages become active ??

If I do the exchange setup.exe on the old server to remove exchange will
that release the role from the old server and push the routing role back to
the new ?? It seems that the old server has got ahold of the routing for
some reason.

Also I have not removed the "*" from the old server IMS. If there is
anything else I can check please clue me in if you would.

Thanks for the help
Ronk

If incoming mail is coming into the old server, it's because your DNS is not
configured to point to the new server, or because your incoming SPAM or
Antivirus server is still directing your mail to the old server.

If your outgoing mail is going through the old server, it's because you
haven't configured an SMTP Connector on your new server, nor have you
removed the "*" address space from the old Internet Mail Service.

Subject: Removing the first Exchange server.

All I brought a new exchange 2k3 server online and did a move mailbox on all
of the accounts. One thing that I am seeing is when the after following the
steps in kb 307917 is that when messages are delivered I get the following
properties on the mail.

Microsoft Mail Internet Headers Version 2.0
X-iHateSpam-Checked: Scanned by iHateSpam Server Edition. (5)
Received: from ice.iceomatic.local ([10.10.0.8]) by beast.iceomatic.local
with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.211.

I haven't removed the old server yet because I am seeing the above. It is
still routing from the old server and delivering to the new . I have changed
the routing master to beast so I am not sure what gives. Also do I need to
remove the replicas from the first server after they have been replicated to
the new server before I do the setup on the old server to remove it ??

Thanks
