We are in the process of consolidating an Exchange 5.5 server into a Exchange
2003 server using the Move Mailbox Wizard.

The environment looks like this:

One Exchange Org with two Administrative Groups.
One Administrative group has a server running Exchange 2003 SP1. The other
Admin Group is an Exchange 5.5 SP4 w/ hotfixes.

I was of the understanding when a mailbox gets moved across administrative
groups that the Outlook profile would have to be updated to point to the new
server. Either manually or via the EXprofre utility. Since we don't have alot
of users on the 5.5 server and would be moving only a handful of users at a
time, we decided to just do the updates manually. But we are finding out that
somehow Outlook is updating the profiles by itself and finds the mailbox
located on the 2003 server in the other administrative group. Is this how it's
supposed to work and I've just missed something? Does anybody understand how
or why Outlook locates mailbox? My concern is once we shutdown the 5.5 box that
all of the clients that have been moved will stop resolving properly.

Thanks,
David-
