You've just discovered reason #5 not to use PSTs for primary data
storage in an Exchange environment. :-(

If you have no backups you're probably out of luck; aside from whatever
your retention holds.

I'm a bit stumped, the tapes back up the store, the store does not
contain most of her email since it is moved right to her PST, what data
will be on the tape? Other than the last 7 days ( my retention period).

The problem I face, if I'm not mistaken, since her rules move her email
to her PST, the daily backup is only backing up the Server (store) so my
tapes for her in particular, World not hold any data.

If it's not available through deleted item recovery, you can restore
from a backup.

Subject: LOST PST-HELP

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is a way to recover data through exchange, when
the user moved it to a PST.

She inadvertently created folders in her PST as opposed to the store and
would move stuff to it.

I installed XP using the "format drive NTFS (QUICK)" option , when I
gave her the pc back is when she informed me that her folders were
missing. Is there anyway to recover it through Exchange, or any other
form for that matter?

Thanks

Jean Paul
