Environment: Single Win2k SP4 DC running Exchange 2003 (pre SP1). About 15 users in this location.
To complicate matters, client has two locations that are NOT connected. Both use the same Internet domain name, so email is via POP3. Users in this office have both a POP3 account (default), and an Exchange account configured in their Outlook 2003. (I didn't engineer this solution, and there is good reason why the engineer who did isn't here any more). Users in the other location have just POP3. Anyways - Client in this location creates a shared contact list in PF, and a distribution list. The DL includes users in the local office, and members were added from contacts in the same PF. Problem is that some of the addresses show up as the x500 address, and some show up as the SMTP address. Since the POP3 account is the default, this is causing delivery problems. Realizing that a VPN (between locations) with everyone on the same Exchange box is ideal, but not likely, I'm attempting to find out WHY Exchange forces the x500 address into the DL. If I whack the contact, recreate with an SMTP address, and re-add it to the DL, the problem still happens. It appears that the problem affects the Contacts for users added after the Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 upgrade. I hope this all makes sense. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
