Well, in another message you said that new mail notification was the problem. What happens when you click send/receive? Do they show up?
If so -- that's a UDP issue. Have you applied the OL2k3 patch to your Exchange store? (Included in the latest update rollup for Exchange Server 5.5.) If not -- do so. You might try reducing the DIR and see if th deleted items decrease. The PST is just for archival purposes. The "deleted items" is what's showing in the Exchange server as deleted but not purged from the server.
