That's in the zone file of the provider who is hosting your DNS.

For example you can check MX records using NSLOOKUP. If you tell
NSLOOKUP to query for Any records, you will probably see SPF records.


Speaking of DNS, did you check whether your server is using correct DNS
servers?

Also check to see if your server has anything in the HOSTS file that
could be pointing mail in a wrong direction.

Look at your own zone and see if there's an SPF record in there.  If
there is, verify that both mail servers are designated as being valid
originators for your domain.

Nope. That's not the problem. It's set to "organization." As I say, THIS
problem has been tracked down to the mail recipient's side, however,
since we have this problem occasionally with other domains, etc, I
thought it prudent to investigate further.

Your problem is probably that your Internet Mail Service's scope isn't
configured to be usable by the entire organization, only the site.
Check that.

No. One is across town. Further information from one of the other IT
guys (our *nix admin who's been helping test) is that it works for him
most of the time. However, sometimes it will fail for him. This is one
of those intermittent errors. 

I just cranked up message tracking in the hopes that I can figure out
why it's rejecting...

Hey, everyone...
I'm having a problem here that I'm hoping someone can help me with...
We've got two mail servers. On one, we can send to a particular
3rd-party (external SMTP account) with no problems. On the other, the
same email address gets an "undeliverable" response within about 30
seconds when someone on the other server sends that address an email.

i.e: Person on server 1 sends email to address, email goes through.
Person on server 2 sends email to the same address gets an
"undeliverable" almost immediately. This has happened before and it's
always been server #2 that's had the problem.

I did not install/build either server and I have inherited these
servers.
Not to mention the fact that I have no formal Exchange training...
