It saved my ass too when another admin did a similar thing back in Sept. I restored from the backups, replayed the logs but still, about 4 mailboxes didn't come back. Re-created the mailboxes, used Ontrack to grab the mail from the .edb and good to go.

As I posted in another thread, I did a major f'up and managed to blow away about 75 users' accounts, mailboxes, everything. I had backups, but didn't want to go through the nightmare of bringing up a recovery server and risking weirdness with directory replication. I found this product, pushed through a rush purchase, and by dog, it WORKS, and it works GREAT. The product is OnTrack Power Controls, and it allows you to restore mailboxes, messages, folders, etc. on a totally granular level from .edb or .pst files. It let me catalog a tape and pulled the .edb from the online backup, and let me restore the mailboxes one at a time. It's not cheap, but I think this is something anyone in a large environment should consider having for disaster recovery purposes, as it'll allow you to extract data from unmountable mailbox stores. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
