Thanks Ed. I think I've got things working by doing the following: Creating a Directory Replication connector in the remote 5.5 site that uses the new 2003 server as the bridgehead (it connects to the SRS?).
I've also created a Routing Group connector on the new 2003 box that points to the remote 5.5 site, and created a site connector in the remote 5.5 site that has the 2003 server as its target.
