You really ought to hire an Outlook developer to write an application that will do this for you properly. A properly written application could work natively with Outlook and send the message to all the Outlook contacts in a folder, one at a time. Really, this has practically nothing to do with Exchange; it should be an Outlook application.
Or, you can consider my previous post and consider a commercial mailing list software package. I've read that the limit for DL recipients is 5000 by default in Exchange. I've also read where Outlook 2003 has a limit of about 100-135 depending on how much info is in each contact that is added to the DL. The system is SBS 2003 with all updates including SP2 for Exchange. The list of contacts that I'm adding is in a csv file that I've imported into a new folder that was added by right clicking the "Contacts" folder and selecting "New folder" of the person's Outlook that will be responsible for sending out the promotions. Importing the list of first name, last name and email address into the new folder is no problem but as soon as I try to add the whole list of recipients I get an error stating "This distribution list has reached the maximum size for your network e-mail server. No new member could be added.". ESM/Global Settings/Message Delivery/Limits is set to unlimited recipients. I thought I would make up a few DL's by just adding 250 but that was a no go.same error. Tried adding 90 and it worked but then I have way too many DL's to deal with. I tried this at home using Outlook 2003 (checks pop accounts only) that is setup using a pst and it will populate a DL with all 2300 recipients no problem. Another little problem is that when I add the recipients (from the folder they were imported to) to the DL the name and email columns are populated with the users email address. No name is displayed, though when viewing the contacts in that folder the names are listed correctly in the properties of the recipients. Is this possible using Exchange/Outlook? Do I need to copy the home pst and open it with Outlook on the sending machine so it will use the DL created on the home machine?
