It takes campus 48 hours to get their tail in gear to make DNS entries. The problem was resolved when adtex.ucdavis.edu was registered in DNS. The campus mail system was rejecting mail thinking it was coming from a spammer.
To answer your question. Yes I was trying to send from adtex.ucdavis.edu to asmail.ucdavis.edu. Asmail is MXed to one of the campus mail servers which is why campus was getting involved and causing my mail to be rejected. Thanks for your help.
