Then is it possible I had to purge the retention data before running the defrag? As far as I understand it, just having users delete email and empty deleted items does not rid the database of the data unless Deleted Item Retention is disabled or someone manually purges the database before the defrag.
Related to this does EX grow the database in increments as space is needed? If you can't see a mailbox anywhere under the mailbox stores in ESM, then it's probably because it doesn't exist. If the mailbox exists and you can't see it, you have a different problem. And there are about 120 mailboxes out there, which I don't see them all in ESM. So does that mean I have to go thru them one by one to figure out which one is the culprit? That makes it a bit tedious especially since I have to do most of it remotely. If you find that one is, you can set a prohibit send and receive limit on it, cycle the Information Store, and that should kill the mail loop dead in its tracks. Performed offline defrag and brought it down from 15GB to about 12GB. In just 2 days store has grown by 250MB without any mailbox activity. While the mailbox store is about 12GB, the total of priv.edb & pub.edb are only about 8GB. The priv1.stm is about 4GB. There are mailbox limits and Backups are running fine. What could be the cause of this and how can it be stopped/fixed?
