Nested DL's can sometimes act funny when used to permission a PF. User
grants Accounting Users DL editor permission. Accounting Users DL is set to
a Security Group. The Accounting DL is made up of Accounting Users Corp and
Accounting Users Europe. Since those DL's aren't directly used to secure
permissions, they may not convert to a security group.

Also sometimes when PF permissions are granted to DLs. Exchange 2003
converts them on the fly to mail-enabled security groups as soon as one of
the DL members attempts to access the PF.

I have seen cases where PF access was still messed up for 1-2 weeks after
this and then magically started working fine.

Another trick - if users have certain PFs in their Favorites since Exchange
5.5 days, PF access may be messed up after migration. Have the users remove
the PFs from the Favorites and them readd them.

 Follow-up question regarding our migration.

We managed to get the 5.5 server removed from the Org and we are operating
in 100% native mode (2003)

The problem we are having now is that our Public Folders are "all messed
up." What I mean is that the permissions are nothing what they used to be on
the 5.5 server. People that had permission to something now do not. This
included public calendars, etc..

Is this something the ADC (Active Directory Connector) is responsible for.
Any idea what caused this and more important, how to fix it.

TIA

You can load the Exchange 5.5 Administrator on a workstation. I wouldn't
put it on the Exchange 2003 server at this point, but I don't know of any
reason you shouldn't, since it's one of the setup options of Exchange 2003.

Hello, we added a 2003 Exchange server to your org (we are upgrading) , got
everything (public/private info) moved over. We are now trying to remove the
5.5 server and we are having some problems. Per the MS docs, we tried to
remove it from the 5.5 administrator. It got it removed about 75% and then
crapped out. Now when we reboot the 5.5 server a bunch of Exchange services
don't start. The error was that some public folders were not successfuly
moved over. We thought they were as replication was up to date.

Would it help (or hurt) to load the 5.5 admin console on the 2003 Exchange
server (is this possible).

IS there any best way to remove the 5.5 server at this point?

TIA
