Make sure you set the smarthost settings in an SMTP Routing Group connector and not on the SMTP settings under Protocol!

EX1 and EX2. EX2 is configured to route all email through EX1. I am trying to configure EX1 to relay all external emails to the smart host in DMZ (Default SMTP VS), however even the internal emails which are intended for EX2 are being forwarded to the Smart host. How should EX1 be configured to route only external mails to the smart host and send internal mail directly to users on EX2?
