Unlike MAPI, the IMAP protocol provides no method for a server to notify the
client of a mailbox move, so your users will have to manually reconfigure
their clients to point to the new server. This isn't a limitation of
Exchange, but of the IMAP protocol.

Subject: IMAP4 access to mailboxes on another server (MSX 5.5)

Hi All,
We recently had (and still have) problems with our MSX 5.5 server database,
so we have run up another 5.5 server and begun moving the mailboxes to the
new server.

All was going well until some wise guys decided to try their PDA phones
using IMAP4. The users with their mailboxes still on the original 5.5 server
(where the IMC is) can use IMAP4 no problems, but the users who are on the
new server (in the same site) cant.

The error in event log comes up along the lines of "The requested mailbox is
not on this server". I had hoped that since both servers were in the same
site, IMAP4 would just work, but it looks like not.

We are planning to move the IMC to the new server, and we are also planning
to move to MSX2003 real soon (tm) but in the meanwhile I would like to try
and keep all this working.

If anyone could provide some advice on how to work around this IMAP issue,
it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
