I'm finally getting rid of my last 5.5 server! Going through KB822450 it says "If public folders are present on the computer that is running Exchange Server 5.5, they must be migrated to an Exchange 2003 computer that is in the administrative group. The question I have is what is the reason for them saying they "must" be migrated. Is it must as in you won't have access to them or must as in your exchange organization will get messed up if you don't migrate them?
I have public folders (which I don't believe are needed) "Internet Newsgroups" and "NAV for Microsoft Exchange-EXCHANGE". I'm guessing the NAV folder is left over from olden days when I was running Norton Antivirus. The Internet Newsgroups folder has never been used. Unless there is some reason these folder should be migrated I'd rather not migrate them and I'm having trouble deleting them. So, is it going to be a problem if I don't migrate them? Thanks for your help.
