Great!! Thanks.. I will look back at my install notes and write up a doc to
follow. I do better with some notes instead of relying on memory. :) LOL

Hahahahaha. Pretty much the obvious. At a high level:

Ensure you've got enough memory and processor resources on the MB servers.

Install CAS+HT on the MB servers.

Configure CAS+HT on the MB servers.

Update send+receive connectors.

Test test test!

Redirect LBs

Test test test!

Update send+receive connectors (removing old CAS+HT)

Remove old CAS+HT.

Yes, of course. :)

And the process is?

Are the MB servers in a DAG?

If so, proceed.

If not, why not? And don't proceed.

Subject: [Exchange] Steps to Combine existing Exchange 2010 CAS/HUB servers
with Mailbox Servers

Existing 2010 architecture is 2 primary MBX servers, 2 primary CAS/HUB
virtuals, 1 virtual MBX Server just for file share witness and as a console for
Kroll OnTrack so Outlook is installed, and 1 HA Server Mailbox/CAS/HUB server
in another office for HA.

Has anyone combined existing Exchange 2010 CAS/HUB servers with Mailbox
Servers? There is a push here to combine the roles all on the existing Mailbox
Servers, which are physical servers, and take the CAS/HUB servers down, which
are virtuals. The reasoning is that 4 years ago, when these were built, MS Best
Practices were to separate the roles, but that seems to have shifted now. It
would save us some licensing costs as well as having fewer servers to patch and
manage.

There is a KEMP load balancer in front of the CAS/HUBS and a Barracuda in front
of that.

I am looking for some suggestions on steps to take and things to look out for.
:)

Thanks,
Alice
