Yes we are aware of that. But what we plan on doing is bringing them under
our umbrella (5.5) and then eventually upgrading to EXCH2K so we both can
have full functionality of AD.

It is not recommended to have a single site 5.5 span domains. In this
context the 2K server would be considered a 5.5 server.
