OWA 2000 can not access PFs on 55 servers so if they use OWA much it could
be a problem (unless you set the 55 box as their front-end server for OWA)

Ensure that you run an IS/DS adjust to remove unknown permissions from both
PFs and mailboxes prior to the moves & you have a good chance of avoiding
most problems. When it comes to users actually authenticating with their AD
accounts, use something like the ADMT to repermission all the mailboxes so
that the AD account (seen as SELF in AD U&C) is the primary NT account as
seen by the 55 servers. It shouldn't be necessary to repermission the
public folders at all for client permissions.

If you do get problems read Paul Bowden's document on PFs from
www.exinternals.com

Subject: migrating from 5.5 to e2k (public folders)

this weekend i am going to move the mailboxes from our ex 5.5 server to e2k
(they are in 1 site but in 2 different domains). users still access the
mailboxes with their nt 4.0 user accounts until end of september. the public
folder store will be located on the 5.5 server for approx. 2 months. client
permissions on the folders have been set under nt4.0/ex5.5. replication
between 5.5 and e2k has been set up.

will there any problems arise if i do migration in the above stated way
(public folder access)? do i have to set/replace the permissions (pf) again
when the win2k accounts are enabled?

thanks in advance for your answers.

Alex
