I tested between the time you posted and the time I replied... and between the time you replied and the time this reply was sent. What I did is included below. At no point did I receive an error message and yet no attempt was made at mail delivery either.
To even entertain the possiblity your mail server might be RFC compliant, in the latter test case below I should have received an NDR at some point, and I have not. 220 Unauthorized access prohibited. 250 Hello bv.com, pleased to meet you 250 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>...
