Server side DLs have traditionally been defined as directory based DLs,
while PAB, contact and more recently PF contact DLs have been referred to as
either client side or PF DLs. PF DLs may indeed be stored on the server, but
beyond that they bear little resemblance to what is traditionally considered
a server side DL.

And if we really want to start picking nits, the original poster said they
wanted to create this list in Exchange 5.5 and there is no mechanism for
creating either a PF containing contact items or a PF DL in Exchange 5.5,
those are done in Outlook client and Outlook 98 or later respectively[1].

[1] Or via CDO. [2]
[2] Had to mention it or Siegfried would.
