Thanks, Serdar - I'll check that out. I have quite a few mailboxes that really should be either public folders or DL's, but my users have to have the read/unread on a per object basis instead of per user.

What tool and where for Exchange 5.5, sp3? I could really use this, and I'm not real thrilled about tinkering with MDBVUE32 as Serdar suggested. -----Original Message----- From: Ed Crowley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 8:00 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: how to make " private" e-mails visible in a shared mailbox ? Using the appropriate administrative tool for the Exchange version, in the properties of the folder you can change a public folder so that it retains read/unread status like a mailbox. That works well as long as read/unread status is only important on a per-user basis. F'rinstance-- our help desk mailbox is set up as below. We don't want it to be a PF because then everyone who has access to it would see their own read/unread items, and the possibility exists for duplicate responses (or lack of response-- "I thought someone else would respond!). We use Lori's method of auto-responding to users to reset the sensitivity. I'm going to check out Jason's suggestion, though! Use a public folder. You'll never run into this issue. It's easier to administer and access. Plus no additional client action is needed to access it. I setup a rule that replies to the sender just on private and confidential that says their message is being returned because no one on that mailbox can read it and they should resend it without the sensitivity. -----Original Message----- From: Freya Jongkind [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2002 4:38 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: how to make " private" e-mails visible in a shared mailbox ? Hello, Has anyone solved or found a workaround for the following situation : We have mailboxes that are treated by more than one person such as orders @ compagny.com and sometimes our clients will send an e-mail with sensitivity private to such a mailbox. For sensitivity you need to have the mailbox open as primary mailbox otherwise you can't see the e-mail. This gives "ghostlike e-mails because you can see in the folder list that there are more unread e-mails than you can see in the mailbox. My question is now how can I set the sensitivity for all e-mails on a certain mailbox on normal ? Or is there a possibility to give my users the possibility to see those e-mails with an extra button ? Making such a shared mailbox a primary mailbox is not an option because those users have more then one of such mailboxes. Thanks in advance for any advice on this subject.
