No, but there does need to be a working[1] two-way trust between your 5.5
domain and your Exchange domain. There also needs to be a 2-way connection
agreement between your 5.5 site and your AD.

[1] Verify that your trusts are working at the member servers. A poked trust
relationship gave me no end of problems...

Subject: last try? ex 5.5 & ex 2k

We have an exchange 2000 server, that is part of an Ex 5.5/sp4 site .. the
domain structure is roughly (simplified) like this ....

NT4 domain (NOT a child domain in our ADS forest)
        Mail_Server_1(NT4/sp6, ex5.5/sp4) in site 1
        Mail_Server_2(NT4/sp6, ex5.5/sp4) in site 1

2000 domain (ADS)
        Mail_Server_3 (win2k, ex 2000) in site 1

there is a two way trust between the NT4 domain and the 2000 domain ...

My question (what we feel may be at the core of some of our problems)....
does the NT4 domain need to be a child domain (i.e. does the domain need to
be upgraded to a 2000 domain) in our ADS forest?

Thanks for any help (even the kind that says ... "hey you idiot ...") .....

Mike
