Well, I got it working but I don't know why. I entered the domain name and
IP address of mail server in the "Specify by email domain" field of the
Internet Mail Service. Now it works. Do you think it's a problem with my
ISP's DNS server?

oh well that blows my theory...

FYI: On occasion Ive seen if a server (internal) is set to forward it's mail
to the ISP's mail relay...the ISP mail relay can reject the mail... .. Ex:
IF I send you and e-mail, then you forward it to someone else (back outside
to the world) the ISP mail relay might think it is a relay attempt...why?
cause the one ISP I know often having this problem .... appears to have
their mail relay reading the header and assoc. info in it a little too
tightly?/incorrectly? thus it reads ALL the header info and "see's" the org
address...

Our Exchange server is straight to the internet. We have had it this way
for the past 3 years and have never had a problem.

do you by any chance have you're exchange server sending the mail (relay)
thru your ISP's mail relay server?
(or is it set to just do it's own DNS lookups?..pure to the Internet)

Greetings All,
When sending mail to a particular domain we receive the following response
(message below). Any thoughts? We can receive mail from them but cannot
reply or send new mail. I have no problems sending them mail from a hotmail
type of account. They receive mail from others.
