He takes it home and puts it back in. I imagine the life of the HD is pretty short from all that rebuilding.
I take the tapes home from my office to make sure their offsite in case of a fire. Any problem with that? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of EXTERN Hlabse Tony (Tek Systems;RBNA/CIT1) Sent: Thursday, September 12, 2002 3:41 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Backup Hardware What? That is one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time. Now I have heard people taking tapes home with them. What I would like to know when he gets back to work does he put it back in or does he take one out and put another in. This is too funny. Almost as good as " Hey my System Idle process is at 99% can someone tell how to make it stop taking up all the CPU cycles?" -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Hummert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, September 12, 2002 5:21 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Backup Hardware My boss has a friend that has a company that backs up their servers by taking a spare hard drive from a RAID 5 config home ever night. Currently we are using a VAX tape drive to back up our systems. He seems to think that the hard drive solution sounds like a great idea. I think it's possibly the worst idea ever created. Besides the constant vibrations, and temperature changes that the hard drives would have to withstand could everyone give me some more reasons as to why this is a bad idea. I think I just need a little ammo from other admins to help convince him.
