Sure you can.  Do it in two separate jobs, one backing up Exchange (no,
don't stop Exchange) and then one backing up everything else if there's
anything else you have to have.  Do this locally or do it remotely, per
Ed.  Look up the commands and do it from a batch file - I can send you a
sample if you can't find them in Technet...note, this may just magically
solve your IMS problem as well.

Interesting suggestion, but I doubt I can backup the entire server from
a remote computer using NTBACKUP...or can I?  Also, I thought I had to

I'm looking at Veritas or CAI's new Brightstor product.  Ideally, I want
to backup the entire server plus backup the Exchange single instance
database as individual mailboxes (for much easier recover).

I'd still like to know why IMS had begun to fail after a backup. Any
thoughts on this.
