We have done something similar here.
What you need to do is create the public folder in Outlook. Then in the Exchange System Manager Go to "Folders/Public Folders/YourFolderName" and open the properties. On the Permissions tab click add, find the group you want to have permissions to send from the folder, click add, click ok. Back on the permissions tab select the group in the windows and under Roles: select User. This will give the group permissions to send as the folder. It will take some time for these permissions to take effect so just wait a day or so.
If they want to send mail out and make it look like it came from the folder that you just created. Make a new message, go to the View Menu and select "From Field", then just add the name of the Public Folder into the From field that is now on the message.
I would not add individual accounts permission like this, only use NT Groups.

I'm running exchange 5.5 sp4. What i'm trying to do is have a public folder group mailbox which e-mail can also be sent from. Sort of a support mail box that the support group can use to reply.

I'm not sure what it is you're trying to accomplish with a "group mailbox" but it is my opinion that a mailbox makes a pretty nice group mailbox. You didn't even say what version of Exchange you're running.

Trying to implement a group mailbox using a public folder. I've been following the directions in the article "Implementing a Group Mailbox or Public Folder" Instant doc ID #4855 and I can't seem to get the script to work. It does not use the new message class. Does anyone have any info on how to set up a group mailbox using the public folders to track msg.
