Now I am very confused. My environment is 3 Exchange 2000 SP3 servers, all my Exchange 5.5 servers have been upgraded. All the mailboxes have X.500 address because they were migrated from a 5.5 server (we used the swing method).

That X.500 address shows up because Outlook can't find the corresponding recipient in the directory. Remember that Exchange 5.5 routes internal mail, even to Exchange 2000, using this kind of addressing. The one thing I found is the recipient policy for my site is: (&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/O=MYORG/OU=MYSITE/*)) while the default policy is: (mailnickname=*) The site policy has a higher priority than the default policy. I am still playing catch-up on some of the finer points of Exchange 2000 so I don't fully understand this process. Would this effect the layout of the GAL?
