I think there is a component of 'knowing your audience'. There may be companies or situations where such a deployment might work or be worth it. I don't think it fits the average business though.

It was very silly and amateurish, made employees very embarrassed to send email. The logo was about 200x200 and they used fonts at about 16 pt. I guess they saw the light, I don't see it in their sigs anymore, just normal text now.
