Still struggling with this. Tried a great many google solutions. This part of
the test confuses me. Why is it hitting my CAS with MAPI using the local name?

Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint with identity:
cas.domain.LOCAL:6001.
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.

An RPC error was thrown by the RPC Runtime process. Error 1818 CallCancelled

Not sure about the regedit part, the ports you list are correct.

It used to work, so I am not concerned with firewall rules or our proxy
server...I recently refreshed the hardware.  1 CAS/Hub and 2 mailbox servers. I
never tested it as no one was ever using it. And of course now someone wants to.

Test Connectivity is failing here:

Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint with identity:
CASserver.domain.local:6001.
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.

Now CASserver.domain.local is my internal name, not my public name. So that
certainly concerns me.  That internal name is not mentioned until that step.
All the other steps pass with the correct public name.

RPC Proxy over HTTP is installed, but I believe it is configured incorrectly
per    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998910(v=exchg.65).aspx

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy   ValidPorts shows
CASserver:593; CASserver:49152-65535

Shouldn't it be more like   CASserver:6001-6002;
owa.elyriaschools.org:6001-6002; CASserver:6004; owa.elyriaschools.org:6004
as per the technet article.  Do I just regedit and boot?

Also this may help.
