They like Outlook - they like the automatic checking for new messages without having to (horrors) click something.

These people are sales people based in remote offices and not the most accepting of learning ANYTHING new.

Subject: SMTP Authentication

Hello

Could not find anything on the Archives on this so hopefully one of you will have dealt with it

Exchange 5.5 sp4 NT 4.0 sp6a

Sent a question about POP a few days ago and am in the process of implementing it.  My boss has talked to MS PSS just to be sure and he is telling me we are going to need to use a different SMTP server for them to send against.  I thought using the setting in the POP connector for Exchange to relay for authenticated users in conjunction with having the Outlook client be set to "My Server requires Authentication" should allow them to send.  These guys will be using various methods of accessing the internet from DSL to dialup so I cannot set IP settings for it.

I have not implemented this yet but my tests from home using my cable modem seem ok.

Any one have any insights?

TIA

Jim
