Larry,

Sorry it was a long day yesterday.

Open AD Users and Computers
Go to View and select Advanced Options
Then right click your domain and go to properties and you should see a
security tab.

That is where you setup your security for the root of your AD Domain.
Most settings in there are set to this Object/Folder only and don't
propagate to the rest of the tree. Just take a look around at the
settings and you should be able to figure it out. If you need more help
just shoot me a messages of the list.

No it isn't configured that way by default.

You need to find out what info needs to be queryed by the anonymous
connection
Then you must give the everyone or anonymous logon group access to read
this information from active directory. They need to beable to list the
contents of the OU you want to give access to and then beable to read
attributes of User Objects.

I have someone coming in to add a text-to-speech module into our voice
mail to read email over the phone.

They gave me some things to take care of before they come out.

One thing I am not finding information on is the following: LDAP must be
enabled and configured to support anonymous access.

Is it configured that way by default, or is there something that I need
to do?

W2K running E2K.
