Mark,

Its been a while since I have done this. If I remember correctly when
you try to run the ADC setup program on your workstation it will know
that you already have an ADC server in the Domain and just install the
Admin tools. But you must be running the ADC that comes with Exchange 2k
or the Exchange 2k ADC of the trial software website. The ADC of the
site will not expire after 120 days that the trial of exchange 2k. If
your not running the Exchange2k version of the ADC you could run into
problems.

Hi Keith,

Is there some lite or custom version of the ADC install? Don't I not
have to
install E2K to use the System Manager or are there some support tools?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Mark

You need to install ADC on your workstation or the Exchange 2k System
Manger Tools to get the Tabs to show up in AD Users and Computers.

On my remote W2K workstation I installed the admin tools and the
Exchange 5.5 administrator. I have not installed E2K anywhere. Only the
ADC on a W2K DC.

You ran an exchange install and installed the admin tools?

OK William you really had me confused there for a minute. Kevin, I have
installed the add on support tools already similiar to what NT 4.0 had
and it made no difference. I only see the tabs where the ADC was
installed.

Any ideas with the registry as well.

Thanks again.

Installed ADC on W2K domain controller
Connected to Exchange 5.5 Site using Connection agreement 1 way
Everything syncing very nicely

Issues

1. Can only view exchange tabs using Active Directory Users and
Computers physically on W2K domain controller or obviously via terminal
services from a remote W2K workstation for an object. Installed support
tools on W2K workstation but cannot view exchange tabs using Active
Directory Users and Computers. Yes I have enabled Advanced Features from
menu bar in using Active Directory Users and Computers. What else needs
to be configured/installed to see the tabs remotely?

2. Can view application log in event viewer on W2K domain controller
remotely but when displaying the details of an event I receive the
following

message:

The description for Event ID (doesn't matter what number) in source
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
